Prepayment for recreational vehicle (RV) repairs is usually required by RV ROAD TECH for several reasons:
Mobility of RVs: Unlike a house, business or other permanent structures, RVs can be driven or towed away at any time. This mobility increases the risk that a customer might take their RV without paying for the completed repairs. RV ROAD TECH loses the leverage that we might have with a stationary structure.
Additionally, some recreational vehicles (RVs) are located at campgrounds and registered out of State which further complicates the situation. Here’s why this is significant:
Remote Location Risk: If an RV is located at a campground or private property we have no control over the situation. Once repairs are completed, the RV owner could potentially leave the location without settling the bill, making it almost impossible for us to pursue.
Reduced Leverage: In a typical repair situation, a repair shop can hold onto the RV until payment is made. However, if the RV is at a campground or private property, we loose 100% of this leverage, making prepayment a necessary measure to protect our interests.
By requiring prepayment, RV ROAD TECH ensures that we will be compensated for the work regardless of whether the customer decides to move the RV after the repairs are done. This is especially important if a significant amount of work or expensive parts are involved. RV ROAD TECH needs to protect its financial interests. Since RVs can be moved, there is a higher risk of not being able to reclaim the cost of parts or labor if the customer fails to pay after the work is completed.
This policy essentially minimizes the risk of being left unpaid for the services we provide. Also please consider the following:
High Costs Involved: RV repairs can be expensive, often involving specialized parts and labor. Prepayment ensures that the cost of parts and any initial work without the risk of non-payment.
Custom and Special Order Parts: Many RV repairs require specific or custom parts that may need to be ordered and/or inventoried in advance. Prepayment helps the shop cover the costs of these parts, which often cannot be returned or reused if the customer cancels the repair.
Commitment Assurance: By requiring prepayment, RV ROAD TECH ensures that the customer is serious about getting the work done. This prevents situations where a customer might back out after the shop has already begun work or ordered parts.
Reduced Risk: Prepayment reduces our financial risk. It ensures that we don’t end up with unpaid bills, which can be particularly problematic with high-ticket repairs like those common with RVs.

What is the dfference between an estimate and diagnostics?
When your RV is having an issue, it usually takes a lot more than a quick “look,” to know exactly what the problem is, especially on appliances. Most of the time our technicians can see that something is not working, but in order to properly know what is wrong (and what is causing this issue) appliances need to be pulled apart and tested. This takes time, as does properly diagnosing each individual problem. Often the unit will have to be removed from the RV and tested thoroughly to find EXACTLY what the issue is, and WHY this has happened. This prevents it from happening again. We do charge a fee for all diagnostics. We understand that you require this service, but please understand as well, that you will be charged a diagnostics fee!
How much will a job be?
We don’t know until we take a good look at each individual job. An estimate will then be created on a “per job” basis. Please see our estimate disclaimer For detail.
Do your services carry a warranty?
Our work is our warranty. Our business is built, and continues to thrive on “word of mouth” and customer satisfaction. We take that very seriously. If you have a continued problem, please call us. We will do all we can within reason to ensure your satisfaction.
What About Manufacture Warranty Repairs?
We only work directly with the owners when repairing the RV. Over the years we have learned time and time again that it usually takes numerous trips to your location and numerous calls and/or emails to the manufacturers, resulting in poor customer satisfaction and time consuming outcomes. For this reason we no longer offer warranty repair service.
I need an estimate for insurance or otherwise. Do you handle this?
As a mobile only repair company we are limited to what repairs can be performed on site. Estimates require substantial time and research to generate. This includes traveling to the RV to gather necessary information including inspection, photographs and documentation. This fact-finding mission cost us time and money. Historically we have learned that most insurance claims never materialize to our benefit as most simply cash the insurance check but never have the repairs made. For this reason we charge our minimum rates in order to cover our time and effort to produce the estimate on your behalf.
Are you open on weekends?
Yes By appointment.
ESTIMATE DISCLAIMER
Estimates are an approximation of charges to you, and they are based on the anticipated details of the work to be done. It is possible for unexpected complications to cause some deviation from the estimate. If significant additional parts of labor are required, you will be contacted immediately.
Estimate validity – 30 days from the date of quote.
